Climavore Residency, Outset Contemoprary Art Fund, London, UK (2019)

Outset Contemporary Art Fund in London sponsors the Climavore Residency, hosting artists in a space designed by Cooking Sections to draw attention to the role of food in the earth’s ecology. It is not surprising that, in such a place, Yahon Chang chose to write calligraphy on snow, as the state of water is increasingly of global concern: our environment is fragile, just as the writing in snow was ephemeral. Employing local media and responding thoughtfully to local conditions has from the start been a hallmark of Chang’s performances and installations.
